Difficulty System and Classes
Ragnamex Hardcore: Class System and Difficulty Modes Overview
In Ragnamex Hardcore, your adventure begins in the deepest floor of Thanatos Tower, specifically on the map thana_boss. Upon logging in, you will start as a level 60/50 character with any class, but your first objective is to die — on purpose.
This is part of the server’s lore, still under development by the creator, Triedge. To advance, let the Dark Lord roaming the map kill you.
Respawning into the Real Game
Once defeated, you’ll respawn inside St. Abbey (inside_st_abbey) as a Novice 1/1. Here, you'll encounter the NPC Receptionist, who mocks your death before offering you three distinct gameplay paths:
Hardcore Mode
Death penalty: Severe
On death: Your character is reset to 1/1 Novice
You lose: All your gear, zeny, and progress
Recommended for: Masochists and hardcore challenge-seekers
Warning: Even going AFK or checking your skill window in the wild can result in death
Slow but Surely Mode
Death penalty: Mild
On death: You lose 5% of your current EXP
You gain: 50% less EXP from quests and monsters
Recommended for: Players who want to explore and test enemy behavior and damage without huge risks
Craftsman's Way
Death penalty: None
EXP from quests: Only 10%
EXP from monsters: 0%
EXP from crafting: Earn experience through crafting weapons, armor, leather, and gathering
Recommended for: Players who want to roleplay as crafters or have gathered large amounts of resources
Available Classes
After choosing a mode, you’ll proceed to select your base class. Note that you’ll skip directly to 2nd non-transcended class.
Current Playable Classes
Knight (with partial Blacksmith skills)
Crusader
Assassin (merged with Rogue skills)
Wizard
Sage (complete with 3rd & 4th job skills available)
Priest
Monk
Hunter
Note: Only Sage currently has full access to third and fourth job skill trees. Other classes only have access to their first skill tree/column from higher classes as balancing is ongoing.
Missing Classes
No Merchant class: Whitesmith and Creator do not exist
Some of their crafting/support skills are shared among other classes, but not all
No Rogue: Assassin includes Rogue skills by design
This system provides flexibility and a layered challenge depending on your preferred playstyle. Whether you want punishing death mechanics, methodical pacing, or a focus on crafting, Ragnamex Hardcore has a path for you.
