Difficulty System and Classes
Classes and Difficulty Modes in Ragnamex Hardcore
When you begin your journey in Ragnamex Hardcore, you’ll find yourself in the map thana_boss, which is the final floor of Thanatos Tower. Here, you'll spawn as any class at max level (Base 60 / Job 50). To start the game properly, you'll need to find a boss monster roaming the area and let it kill you. Currently, the story behind this is under development by the server's developer, Triedge, but for now, simply let yourself be defeated by the Dark Lord to proceed.
Starting Point: St. Abbey
After your death, you’ll respawn inside inside St_Abbey as a Novice 1/1. Speak to the NPC Receptionist, who will first mock your death and then present you with three choices:
Difficulty Modes
Hardcore
Death is severely punished.
You'll return to level 1/1 (Novice).
You lose all your gear, zeny, and progress.
Recommended for players who love extreme challenges. Even going AFK or answering a phone call can result in your demise if you're not in a safe zone!
Slow but Surely
You do not lose your character on death.
You only lose 5% of your current EXP.
All monsters and quests grant 50% less EXP.
Ideal for scouting monsters, testing damage, or exploring.
Craftsman's Way
You gain only 10% EXP from quests.
You gain 0% EXP from monsters.
However, all crafting and gathering professions grant EXP.
Perfect for players focused on crafting or who have large material stockpiles.
Class Selection
After choosing your path, you will be allowed to select your class for the adventure. You will skip directly to your Second Job Class (Non-Rebirth). The following classes are available:
Knight
Crusader
Assassin
Wizard
Sage
Priest
Monk
Hunter
These are the only available classes for now. Some classes are fused — for example:
Assassin has access to Rogue skills.
There is no standalone Rogue class.
All classes have access to a mix of skills:
1st and 2nd Job skills
Some 3rd and even 4th Job skills (limited for now)
Currently, only Sage has full access to all their extended skill trees. Other classes are still being balanced and currently only have their first row and column of advanced skills unlocked.
There is no Merchant class available, so Whitesmith and Creator are not obtainable. Some of their abilities have been redistributed:
Example: Knight has some Blacksmith skills.
Custom Skill Level System
The skill point distribution system in Ragnamex Hardcore differs from the official server:
Many skills now have a reduced max level.
Example: Vulture’s Eye from the Hunter used to go up to level 10. Here, it caps at level 4.
Other skills may max out at level 1 or 3.
This is intentional and ensures balance within the server.
Note: Many skill descriptions still reflect their old (official) effects. Don't be confused — the server will gradually update these tooltips, so players should test or ask for clarification until then.
Summary
You start strong, but death resets everything depending on your mode.
Choose your path and class wisely.
Enjoy a mix of known mechanics with deep customization and a hardcore roguelike twist.
