🧭 Getting Started in Ragnamex Hardcore
Upon entering the server, all new players will begin in the final floor of Thanatos Tower: thana_boss. You will start as any class at max level 60 Base / 50 Job. To begin your adventure, you must seek out the wandering boss – the Dark Lord – and allow it to kill you. This death sequence is currently part of an in-progress lore system developed by the server creator, Triedge.
Once defeated, you will respawn as a Novice 1/1 inside the St. Abbey map. Your first interaction will be with the NPC Receptionist. They will mock your demise and then offer you three unique paths to shape your gameplay experience:
⚔️ Difficulty Modes
🔥 Hardcore Mode
"One life. One mistake. Everything lost."
Upon death, your character is reset to 1/1 Novice.
You lose all your equipment, Zeny, and quest progress.
Intended for players who seek the ultimate challenge.
Even going AFK, looking away, or answering a call without securing a safe zone can be fatal.
🐢 Slow but Surely
"Patience is power."
You lose nothing on death.
Only receive 5% EXP penalty.
All monsters and quests give 50% reduced EXP.
Ideal for learning enemy patterns and pacing yourself.
🛠️ Craftsman's Way
"Forge your legacy."
Receive only 10% EXP from quests.
0% EXP gain from monsters.
EXP is earned through crafting and gathering activities.
Recommended for crafters with large material reserves.
🧙♂️ Available Classes
After choosing your path, you will be allowed to pick your starting class. Currently, all characters start directly as 2nd Job (non-transcendent).
Available classes:
Knight
Crusader
Assassin
Wizard
Sage
Priest
Monk
Hunter
Important Notes:
Certain classes merge skills from other job paths. For example:
Assassin has access to several Rogue skills (Rogue is not a selectable class).
Knight includes a selection of Blacksmith abilities (Merchants are not playable).
Skills from 3rd and 4th jobs are selectively added to each class.
Currently, only the Sage has all advanced skills fully unlocked.
Other classes may have only the first row and column of their advanced skill trees available.
📊 Custom Skill Level Scaling
In Ragnamex Hardcore, the skill system is modified significantly:
Many skills have different max levels than their official counterparts.
Some skills are capped at level 1, 3, or 4 instead of their usual maximums.
Example: Vulture's Eye for Hunters only goes up to level 4 (instead of 10).
This system is designed to encourage diversity and balance — don't worry if skills feel weaker at first, as their power may have been adjusted accordingly.
💡 Final Thoughts
Ragnamex Hardcore offers a unique and punishing take on classic Ragnarok Online. With roguelike mechanics, custom skill scaling, crafting-focused paths, and flexible class builds, it's a server that rewards knowledge, planning, and persistence.
Choose your path wisely, adventurer — and don't get too attached to your loot. 🪦
